The brother of former Kyrgyz President Bakiyev Ahmad, convicted on charges of organizing mass riots and other crimes in the coming days will be released. This agency said his lawyer, Ravshan Maksudov.

Akhmat Bakiyev was arrested in July 2010 – shortly after the incident in the republic coup. In August 2011 he was sentenced: a relative of the former president was sentenced to seven years in prison. Later, however, Ahmad Bakiyev came under the amnesty, with the result that the sentence was reduced by one third.

According to the lawyer, taking into account the time spent by his client in custody, as well as the fact that he sat for about a year in prison of the State Committee for National Security (which, as explained by a lawyer, the day is counted as two), appointed by the sentence already served Akhmat Bakiyev .

At the same time Maksudov noted that the decision of the second court (which upheld the verdict, but has applied for amnesty Bakiyev) was appealed – as victims, who appeared in this case, and defense, insisting on a complete acquittal of the convicted person.

The official release date information about Ahmad Bakiyev has not yet been reported. He himself, however, as reported by Fergana referring to the chief editor of weekly newspaper MK-Asia Ulugbek Babakulov (who recently visited the colony, where they hold a relative of ex-president), said that hopes soon to be released.

After the coup in Kyrgyzstan's new authorities have accused the former president and some of his relatives in the organization of mass disorders that took place in the country in May 2010. Akhmat Bakiyev also charged with the creation of an illegal armed group, extortion, land grabbing and other crimes.

After last year's uprising in the search were also declared himself Kurmanbek Bakiyev, his brother Janish, who led the State Security Service, and his son Maxim, who headed the agency for development, investment and innovation.
