Kyrgyz President Atambaev again criticized for Russian air base, located in the country. In an interview with Kommersant, he stated that the benefit to his country's military facility that does not work.

If Russia is willing to help us as our strategic partner – please, we will help. But today we see that this does not help. Some air base is not clear why. Flatters vanity of the Russian generals, do not pay rent, does not fulfill obligations – Atambayev said.

At the end of last week visited the Kyrgyz president to Moscow. He met with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. Atambayev journalists insisted that did not come to Russia to ask for money.

While in Moscow, Atambaev made the air of Ekho Moskvy and said that Russia owes rent Bishkek (for placing the base of the Russian Federation) for several years. According to the president, the debt is about $ 15 million. Asked why the board with the Russian side does not contribute, Atambayev said: The position is this: I am a great master, and you're kind of small things.

According to Atambayev, he recalled the duty of Medvedev and received assurances that the money will be paid.

In an interview with Kommersant and Echo of Moscow Kyrgyz president confirmed that insists on being in the country close U.S. airbase (which is used to support the coalition forces in Afghanistan) in 2014. At the same time he hinted that the Russian military base from Kyrgyzstan to leave. And the more logical, if Kyrgyzstan is connected with Russia, not through some sort of base, and will consist of a single economic space. And not that there is a whip, which applies to Kyrgyzstan, – he said.

According to sources in the Russian government, which refers to Kommersant, the Kyrgyz president's demarche (which generally presents itself as a pro-Russian politician) was a surprise for Moscow. The Kremlin, in turn, reported that the rent will be paid, but at the same time reminded of the debt that Kyrgyzstan is facing Russia. More complicated is the question of repayment of debt to Kyrgyzstan, Russia, constituting 493 million dollars. Prospects for solving this problem is largely dependent on the position of the Kyrgyz leadership – the press service of the Russian president.

In addition to Kyrgyzstan, the Russian air base in Kant (a few dozen kilometers from Bishkek) deployed several Russian military installations: anti-submarine weapons testing base, a communication of the Navy and the seismic station SRF. Russia, reportedly offered to structurally combine these objects in one database and to sign an agreement to lease it for 49 years. However, the consent of the Kyrgyz authorities have not yet given.
